How to eat Keto on a Roadtrip?
Mark and I pack chicken and turkey lunch meat, mozzarella cheese sticks, Powerade (sugar, calorie, and carb free of course), and water in a small collapsable, soft cooler. These are our snacks for the road. I also made a pot of coffee the night beforeand put it into a Growler we had from a brewery, left the lid off over night so it would cool down before adding it to the cooler. We also put heavy cream into a little Tupperware container to get that Keto-jolt. Making our own coffee helps us save some money from going to Starbucks every morning, but most importantly it helps us know what we are putting into our bodies.
Halfway through our road trip, Mark and I had a craving… a Taco Bell craving. I started Googling How to eat keto at Taco Bell and found the obvious options of the taco salad and the protein bowls. Then I thought, “Why don’t we find a Chipotle!?” And a chipotle was found. We stopped at a beautiful, newer area of Burbank, CA, right next to the Cartoon Network HQ. Both of us got a keto friendly bowl from Chipotle: no rice, no beans, extra fajita veggies, one scoop of chicken, two scoops of steak, extra cheese, red salsa, and guacamole. KETO HEAVEN!

(here’s the Cartoon Network HQ – yes it’s both the light building and the darker one in the back)

Keto breakfast at a hotel
Free breakfast or complimentary breakfast included with your hotel room is like the ultimate best. Only if the food is edible, of course. This weekend, we scored on both accounts. Yummy breakfast at the Hampton Inn, Paso Robles, CA. Yes, the sweet smell of waffles and pastries was teasing our senses as we walked from our hotel room to the downstairs breakfast area. BUT, one of the most satisfying parts of eating keto is saying “NO”. Our Keto breakfast was perfect – scrambled eggs with ham and cheese, two sausage patties, and some delicious salsa packets. We also had some iced coffee and heavy cream at the room from the growler we brought. Surprisingly, we were full until an hour before the reception.
